Abstract

This article investigates the impacts of the centralization of state power on social autonomy and civic participation mechanisms. The centralization of power, often associated with authoritarian regimes, has profound implications for the social and political dynamics of a country. Using the theories of Albert Jay Nock, Giorgio Pino, and Peter Häberle, the study explores how political structuring influences community self-determination and citizen participation in decision-making processes. The analysis addresses the historical and legal context of power centralization, highlighting how the concentration of authority can lead to the creation of a massive and inefficient bureaucracy. The study examines how centralization can result in the loss of community identity and cohesion, disintegrating social bonds and undermining the ability of local communities to innovate and adapt to new realities. The article also discusses the effects of centralization on civic participation, arguing that the concentration of power tends to alienate citizens and reduce their engagement in civic life. Centralization can increase corruption and inefficiency, creating significant barriers to civic participation, especially for those on the margins of society. The conclusion is that the centralization of state power presents significant challenges to social autonomy and civic participation. To mitigate these negative effects, it is essential to promote policies that encourage the decentralization of power and strengthen the autonomy of local communities. The study suggests that understanding and implementing such policies are crucial to strengthening democracy and ensuring that state power does not compromise civic vitality and social justice.
